    Keep Energy Costs Low

Convenient and cost effective, a heat pump will provide energy-efficient heating and cooling to your business all year long. Our Commercial Heat Pump Program offers a rebate to eligible businesses installing a heat pump that falls within one of the three scenarios below.

    1. Heat Pump Conversion

This refers to customers installing a heat pump in an existing building to replace an existing electric resistance heating system. This installation will be eligible for a rebate of $250/ton, provided the following conditions are met:

    Pre-conditions

    • Building must have 50,000 square feet or less of conditioned area
    • Consume less than 600,000 kWh annually
    • Existing heating system is electric resistance (gas is not eligible)
    • A BPA Heat Pump Tool must be completed and submitted (PUD staff will assist with this)

    Post-conditions

    • Heat pump must be an air-to-air system
    • Heat pump must meet all applicable CEE Tier 1 or Tier 2 performance specifications (both EER and IEER)

    2. Heat Pump Upgrade in Existing Buildings

This refers to customers installing a new more efficient heat pump to replace an existing heat pump. This installation will be eligible for a rebate of $1,000 per heat pump if it is less than 6 tons in size, and $200 per ton for heat pumps that are 6-20 tons, provided the following conditions are met:

    Pre-conditions

    • Building must have 50,000 square feet or less of conditioned area
    • Existing heating system is a heat pump (gas is not eligible)

    Post-conditions

    • Heat pump must be an air-to-air system
    • Have less than 20 tons of cooling capacity
    • Heat pump must meet all applicable CEE Tier 1 or Tier 2 performance specifications (both EER and IEER)
    • Have the Heat Pump Project Information Form filled out and submitted

    3. Heat Pump Upgrade in New Construction

This refers to customers installing a heat pump in new facilities. This installation will be eligible for a rebate of $1,000 per heat pump if it is less than 6 tons in size, and $200 per ton for heat pumps that are 6-20 tons, provided the following post-conditions are met (there are no pre-condition requirements):

    • Heat pump must be an air-to-air system
    • Have less than 20 tons of cooling capacity
    • Heat pump must meet all applicable CEE Tier 1 or Tier 2 performance specifications (both EER and IEER)
    • Have the Heat Pump Project Information Form filled out and submitted
